How bad would it be if I skipped the last two seasons and just went straight to the movie? Will I miss much? I'm two episodes into season 8 and it's so boring.

Last two seasons are very hit-and-miss. Watch the finale, maybe.LoathedVermin72 wrote:How bad would it be if I skipped the last two seasons and just went straight to the movie? Will I miss much? I'm two episodes into season 8 and it's so boring.

Yeah, watch the first movie. Then watch the last four episodes of the series. Then watch the second movie. And make sure you do all of that by 10 pm tonight!!!Simple Torture wrote:Last two seasons are very hit-and-miss. Haha, well I've seen the first movie and every episode of the first seven seasons. But I think I'll take your advice and skip to the last four and the second movie. It's too fucking dull to go through it all.durdencommatyler wrote:Yeah, watch the first movie. Then watch the last four episodes of the series. Then watch the second movie. Re: TV: The X Files
There are some great episodes but they're few and far between and even the best ones still feel... bogged down. Nothing is as good as the stuff you've already seen. Just watch the last stretch for context.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Haha, well I've seen the first movie and every episode of the first seven seasons. And definitely watch the second movie. People will tell you it's terrible and disappointing. But people are stupid.

Are there any other really noteworthy ones in the last two seasons I should bother with? Or the last four are all I need?

I haven't watched seasons 8-9 since the original airings, but I did a quick run through of the episodes on Wikipedia, and nothing stood out to me.

I'm actually going to have to watch it tomorrow. I'm a cord cutter and fox now doesn't put episodes up until the next day.

Re: TV: The X Files
Episode 1 Spoilers ahead!
This was the show's strategy for the longest time: "Run out of ideas for the mythology episodes? Well, just make the conspiracy more complicated!" It appears they've gone back to the well on that one (making us question if anything from the original series was more than just a "smoke screen"), and while there were some striking visuals in some parts of this episode, it didn't strike me as a compelling story and seemed like it was more along the lines of, "Let's get the band back together!" There was also something way off with the pacing of the first 1/2 hour--way too fast for The X-Files. I've said for a while now that I'm more excited about stand-alone episodes than the mythology arc, and this one just doubled that.
