YouTube Channels

Post by B »

So, after I got a TV with a built in YouTube app, I've gotten into watching a lot of YouTube content, mostly in the form of 3-10 minute videos. I log in about daily and watch new stuff. There's a list below of what I've subscribed to. Anyone have other suggestions? I'd like to find more that give brief explanations/summaries of current issues, but any suggestions would be cool.

My favorites are green.

I realize this is my failing and not VICE's but their videos are longer than my attention span.

What are you currently watching on YouTube?

Post by tommymtcom »

I thought about posting this in the "What are you currently watching on TV" thread, but it didn't seem right. So, this is a thread to post about what TV shows you are watching on YouTube.

I'm currently watching Dr Katz on YouTube. Earlier I was watching CrossBalls.

I really feel like Dr Katz should be a little tougher on his son Ben.

The youngest Weaseling is wanting me to create a channel for her so she can upload all the cool videos she's made over the last 2 days. I'm kinda hoping she forgets about it. She's 8 and I don't know that I want her out there.

I get it, more engagement = more Youtube money, but it's been really getting on my nerves lately because he does it SO MUCH

Youtube has been really shitty lately. No communication. It wouldn't surprise me if the top youtubers get organized and move to something else soon.

big fan of these channels, though vsauce hasn't had much lately it seems. also their videos were starting to get really long and in depth - tough to absorb in bite size chunks like i prefer with my youtube vids.

Some other sciency/learning channels you might enjoy:
Kurzgesagt
RealLifeLore
Wendover Productions
BBC Earth Lab

I've noticed a lot of videos getting longer. Some have actually referenced making videos at least 10 minutes long "because of YouTube's algorithm." Kind of a shame, b/c if I had a long attention span, I wouldn't use YouTube as my entertainment.

KaptainKristian is an awesome video that digs into brilliant minutia of music, tv, and movies. I highly recommend it.
