I'm surprised he didn't mention the infamous screwup Hochuli had in that 2008 game. And Broncos fans were actually sweating it out that they might have gotten the NFCCG ref instead, of whom the Broncos are apparently 0-8 against. But Hochuli is still super awesome even with putting rooting interests aside.
My issue with Hochuli is that he talks too much when explaining the calls on the field. That guy goes on and on and on.
my issue with him is that he's a terrible referee. I guess it's somewhat muted by the fact that they work split "all-star" crews in the playoffs rather than the same crews that work together during the regular season.

Not really--almost everything he says gives a clear explanation of what happened. And there are times where he's actually quite concise, I've noticed him avoid redundant phrases like "After further review".
Just Google "Hochuli talks too much" and you'll find that he just as well known for his lengthy, unnecessary explanations as he is for his massive guns. :)

No one has ever thought less of the Polonius line "brevity is the soul of wit" than Ed Hochuli. The NFL's most celebrated referee, who is well-known for his lengthy explanations of on-field rulings, was in rare form on Sunday night after a confusing play that involved Ted Ginn of the San Francisco 49ers almost grazing the ball on a punt return and the Patriots recovering said punt.

It took Hochuli and his crew a long time to figure out the original ruling, then even more time to review the play after Bill Belichick challenged whether Ginn had touched the ball and then even more time to figure out where to spot the ball after ruling that Ginn had not, in fact, brushed the football.

Al Michaels called it one of the longest referee-related delays he could remember. Some celebrity marriages haven't lasted as long. It took nearly eight minutes and featured four separate announcements by Hochuli, four long-winded explanations, three corrections, two Hochuli hands attempting to silence a booing crowd and a partridge in a pear tree.

That's great. I had a similar moment because I was performing in a show during the game. One of the guys in it with me is a big Broncos fan and we definitely did a little yelling in the dressing room.

for as much as I'd love to see PFM win one last time and walk away in true Broncos fashion, I just don't know how Cam can be stopped.

The Broncos' D can definitely get in Cam's way. My main worry is the Panthers' D.

*Siiiiiiiiiigh* Elway really gets credit for this one. That defense was unreal. Super Happy for Manning (dude seriously, retire), and Von Miller is getting freaking PAID. Well done Broncos. Great night.

I'm still getting chills from hearing "This one's for Pat", no matter how obvious it was going to be said.

Thanks for the congrats, everyone!

And Joey is right: I could stomach a Chiefs Super Bowl victory just as he is with a Broncos Lombardi. Just anyone but the Raiders.
