That the new story had the FA characters in more peripheral roles and the story is being adjusted to make them more central, given their incredible success.

Maybe the first scene of VIII is Rey killing Luke for deserting her when she was a kid.

I was gonna say that we'd all be pissed if Empire was originally all about Lando and then they had to go back and write in the new hope characters, but then I realized how awesome that would have beenSgt.
