Walked downstairs and realized I am out of Lagavulin 16, Laphroaig 10 and Talisker 10, sad day indeed.

I am drinking not-quite-bottom-shelf whiskey and it has put me in an excellent mood as per usual.

My wife came home from a gals night and asked what rye was... initial reaction: "well, I haven't had that in a while but it can be quite good" followed by an explanation of what
rye is and how good it can be; sadly I did not have an example, poor showing.

I think it's pretty abrasive. Not terrible, but not my favorite.

It's a great bourbon to throw in a batch of hot cider.

Ooh, yeah I can totally see that.
I tend to take my bourbon straight and neat.

Me too. Pendleton is nice.
I also prefer bourbon neat but occasionally I use ice.

I have a bottle of Balvenie 17 peated cask to try.
I've enjoyed their 21 (someone else purchased it
) and i tried their 15 and thought it was just okay, their Doublewood 12 is my go to scotch i keep in the house. I really like peaty scotches like Lagavulian a lot so i'm hoping this puppy is good

So I toasted the birth of my son with my father who brought some Johnny Walker Black bottled in 1958.
It was delicious, but I think the metaphysical bonding between my father, my son, my grandfather and myself made it moreso.

I like the Balvenies, especially the 12 or 15. It's one of the malts I recommend to people who don't want anything too crazy but something with character.

Had a hankerin' for a dram and noticed that this was still true and that I'd killed my Laphroaig 10 Cask as well, was my oldest bottle. Enjoying a Talisker 18 now as I believe it would be the easiest to replace though I don't really want to.
