well the whole point of the movie is to show how she struggles with be tempted away from her husband which is kind of a garbage thing to do. also, I didn't like how quickly her character evolved from shy and pathetic, to confident and leader-like.durdencommatyler wrote:Interesting. What was unbecoming about it for you?Dev wrote:it wasn't a bad movie necessarily, but it didn't have any real impact on me either. And I think her story is kind of an unbecoming story... so that puts me off.durdencommatyler wrote:Sorry you didn't like it, Dev.

I, too, have been tempted to go see Brooklyn because of you guys. But every time I watch the trailer, the only thing I can think is "hurl" so I haven't seen it yet. Colm Toibin, who wrote the book it's based on, is coming to my town for a screening/talk in April, so I think I'll just wait for that.

Maybe substitute the podcast for one of your many, lengthy wank sessions.lennytheweedwhacker wrote:yeah...i'm super busy these days and it's hard to find an hour just to myselfdurdencommatyler wrote:It's pretty long, Tom.tommymtcom wrote:Why not?lennytheweedwhacker wrote:i still haven't listened to this

Re: Sharing Cinematic Values #1: durdencommatyler
I saw this fantastic quote from Tracy Letts and it compliments my unintentionally pretentious comment about humans never having improved upon the art of the written word.
“You will not get a better window into the experience of your fellow man than by reading a book. So when you’re done sitting there for half an hour, pick up a fucking book and read it for two fucking hours.” - Tracy Letts
His quote is probably better than mine. But they go together well.
