I'm just trying to make the point that in order to find the best candidate for me, I have to prioritize the issues and figure out what is most important to me, possibly sacrificing some other values/ideas. No candidate is going to agree with all of my values. Of course I care about abortion, guys.

This logic is exactly why I say the voting cutoff should be around 50. We are eternally dealing with the fallout of half-informed dumbdumb retirees who will burn tomorrow's bridges for today's sweet ease. The combination of "I need to look out for my interests above all others" with "I won't be around for the consequences" and "my values are decades behind reality" just sucks.

So you are saying that if a candidate that I identify with on a couple of issues, but not on a main issue, is the one I should vote for because it is for the greater good? Sort of. I don't think they're the only generation guilty of or likely to do this in the future. I think everybody does what Ruddo is talking about to one degree or another, and as you get old and your interests are less and less about the future and your perceptions less inspired by the present, you become part of the worst and coincidentally loudest voting group on earth.

That's not what I said. What I said was that you will still pursue candidates who most value what you identify with when what you identify with is no longer in the nation's or world's best interests. This behavior you exhibit now, and the other things I mentioned,which (to be clear) I think all of us exhibit to some degree, will blend with your (our) old age to make you (us) an especially shitty voter (group). Hell, we'll probably be worse than the Boomers.
