The score is part of the child's inner mind. It's to let us know the movie is from his perspective. It's definitely a stylistic and narrative choice, not just there for no reason.

What? At the end of the movie/?? You are kiddin right...The only reason is to underline what an intense moment they are living.Orpheus wrote:The score is part of the child's inner mind. To the best of my recollection, the score only plays when her son is thinking about his conception of the world. So in this case, it represents a moment of closure. That's how I thought about it, anyway.

"Bone Tomahawk" was fun. I have developed some weird affection for Kurt Russell now that he's older.
This may be strange to say, but he does a lot of good acting with his eyes.

Spotlight was so good. Just a total naturalistic acting master class.

Very nice take, friend. And it helps me with the final moment a bit. So thanks for that.Orpheus wrote:To the best of my recollection, the score only plays when her son is thinking about his conception of the world. So in this case, it represents a moment of closure. I desperately wanted quiet in those final moments. No music. Just the sounds of the wind and the trees and the grass. I thought that would have been powerful and profound. The score at the end bugged me. But your interpretation makes good sense.

Continuing with my Spielberg kick. Amistad was magnificent and War Horse wasn't far behind. This guy's body of work is staggering.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I've never been a big Spielberg fan. I'll revisit him someday and see what I see. But I'm glad you're finding a lot to love in his work, verm.

Next up are Duel (haven't seen since I was a kid) and The Sugarland Express (never seen). Then I'm gonna rewatch Minority Report, War of the Worlds, and Munich, none of which I've seen since my teenage years.lennytheweedwhacker wrote:when r u going to do minority report

Sure! Sounds like a good time. I'd be all a bout that. But can we skip Jaws, though please?LoathedVermin72 wrote:Of everyone here, I would expect you to connect with him the most.
