I'm surprised how quickly & ho-hum this came and went. I would like to know exactly how happened though that two boats would drift into Iranian waters.

“Please help me and my family as we have exausted all of our funds. We spent all of our money on lottery tickets (expecting to win the 1.5 billion) and are now in dire need of cash. With your small donation of at least $1.00, a like and one share, I’m certain that we will be able to pick ourselves up from the trenches of this lost and spend another fortune trying to hit it big again! PLEASE, won’t you help a family in need. DONATE NOW.”

Thirty years ago this morning I was at home watching The Price is Right. We had a snow day off with barely any snow but it was super cold. There was a news break-in, the Challenger had exploded. It seems less historical now but at the time it was a national tragedy. My first "I remember where I was" moment.
Thirty years is not as long as used to be.

I am sure none of us will experience anything like this tomorrow at noon. Nope. Zero chance.

Thanks, but I'm trying to be less of an asshole, so I don't want that history.

Satanist group scheduled to pray at Phoenix City Council meeting

Should the First Amendment freedom of religion be a mandate for freedom from religion?

That is what a group that calls themselves "The Satanic Temple" is saying, and they are bringing that message to Phoenix City Hall.

"It’s Satanism, not devil worship," Lucien Greaves, a spokesperson for the International Satanic Temple, said.

His group says the bible story of Satan being cast from heaven is a metaphor for standing up against a tyrannical government.

"We would be better off if the government would stay out of religion all together," Greaves said. "We think religion has no place in the public square."

And they are bringing that message to the invocation at the Feb. 17 Phoenix City council meeting. The group signed up to pray at the next Phoenix City Council meeting.

Michelle Shortt from Arizona chapter of "The Satanic Temple" will be delivering the message. But Greaves said they haven’t decided on the exact text of the message.

Phoenix City Attorney Brad Holm released a statement after the group signed up to pray. He said:

"A representative of the Satanic Temple recently signed up to pray at the next available formal Phoenix City Council meeting. The prayer will occur on February 17, 2016. Consistent with the U.S. Supreme Court’s direction, the city cannot dictate religious viewpoints or the content of a prayer. In addition, government may not exclude a denomination or a religion from praying under these circumstances."

Phoenix councilman tweeted about the prayer saying it was a "dumb idea."

But for those who are shocked or worried about Satan heading to city hall the Satanic Temple said that as long as there is a religious service at the council meeting they will be in line to deliver their message.

Michelle Shortt, from The Satanic Temple, will open the proceedings of the Phoenix City Council meeting on Feb. 17.
