Falling Down (1993) is probably the finest commentary on the frustrations in American culture. We're so lucky to live in America, and we take many things for granted, yet there's still that underlying anxiety that can drive us mad.

Another great Mike Douglas performance too. Too bad that it's poorly scripted in parts. It'd probably be one of my favorite movies.

Such a weak movie. Such a missed opportunity.

It's been a long time since I've seen it. But yeah I remember liking it, too.

Flatliners is so original. And it's my guilty pleasure. But thanks to Schumacher, I wouldn't mind seeing the movie being remade.

Looking over Mr. Schumshitter's resume, it appears that St. Elmo's Fire is the best film the guy made. Pretty much tells you everything you need to know.

In before the tarkovsky fanclub, of which I would not consider myself a member. Tarkovsky is similar to Fellini for me: I can appreciate the originality but it just doesn't quite work for me. There are moments in their films that I like and that stand out in my head, but on the whole, they just aren't for me. Tarkovsky, Fellini, and I are on different frequencies. I don't know nostalghia, though. I'm basing this primarily off of Mirrors and Stalker. Also, this is obviously a personal response and I have no objective objections to their works that I can find words for, so def check them out.

Fellini is hit and miss for me, but when it comes to Tarkovsky, you must base your first impressions on feeling alone. Don't try to analyse it to death on first viewing, like some have with Malick and Tree of Life. Stalker was my first Tarkovsky film, and I've only seen it once. But it was on a big screen, and I just remember it evoking something ethereal. Not to sound pretentious but it's true. Bergman has the same effect on me. Love Bergman.

But I have to say, I don't know what the hell is so great about the French New Wave filmmakers. Mainly Godard. That guy does absoutley nothing for me.
