I understand being able to afford it, and not wanting to spend extra time ticket-searching, and therefore spending a lot more than face for a concert ticket at big venue. But I don't really understand doing it so far in advance.

I almost always get general sale tix for face value even if they are the worst seats in the house, just for the peace of mind. (If I haven't won the 10C lottery)

You can totally get better seats and pay just a little bit more...there are ways...but I just (usually) wanna get my tix in hand and not worry about it anymore.

I've regretted it a few times because I know better tix were obtainable, but I was in the building and didn't have to scramble for anything and so I was happy.

Basically it's also fear based for some people. Afraid nothing else will come available.

I'm going to get tickets now for one of the Fenway shows and just wait and try my luck for the other show the week before it.

I spoke with my Cubs ticket representative yesterday and asked him about the Cubs pre-sale for the shows. He says they haven't even worked out the details yet.

Those are mostly bullshit. It's the average asking price right now but that will drop considerably.

Nobody understands the only relevant metric is a SALE price not what something is listed for.
