I almost always get general sale tix for face value even if they are the worst seats in the house, just for the peace of mind. You can totally get better seats and pay just a little bit more...there are ways...but I just (usually) wanna get my tix in hand and not worry about it anymore.
I've regretted it a few times because I know better tix were obtainable, but I was in the building and didn't have to scramble for anything and so I was happy.
Basically it's also fear based for some people. Afraid nothing else will come available.
