Ok so my internet is terrible and I have no idea what I'm doing.
This is a solid thread and should not be passed over.

Kind of sounds like Red River Valley...like you've conflated the melody and the spanish guitar you hear on some versions.

Good guess. I definitely hear a similarity. I don't think it's what I was thinking of, though.Man in Black wrote:Kind of sounds like Red River Valley...like you've conflated the melody and the spanish guitar you hear on some versions.
Also, Soma, are you having an Amanda Bynes meltdown in this thread?

Here's the melody played on something other than a xylophone, maybe it'll help.

Do you not know what it is? Or is this a "name that tune" kinda game?

How did you find it? And then find it again on another instrument without knowing what it is? Are you playing the melody in those soundbites?theplatypus wrote:I do not.durdencommatyler wrote:Do you not know what it is?

Re: Can you name this song?
Yes. It's a familiar melody that is stuck in my head and I'm trying to identify the name of. I explain that in the clips, and play the melody in hopes someone will recognize it. You'd know this if you had LISTENED TO THE CLIPSdurdencommatyler wrote:How did you find it? And then find it again on another instrument without knowing what it is? It sounds really familiar to me too. There are parts of it that make me think of "Man in Black" by Johnny Cash, but I don't think that's what it is.

Re: Can you name this song?
My Mom recognized this immediately as an old Spanish song that she used to sing to me when I was a kid:
Welp.
Welp.
