"Rival" is one of those songs that just gets better
and better with age -- that the song has continued to be so relevant is depressing, but nevertheless keeps the song from staying tethered to its moment in time. I love those gnashing, dissonant guitat chords, and how they come to that triumphant major-key halt each time the vocals come in.

I love both "MFC" and "Angel," but more and more I think "Rival" is elite PJ.

Since I first heard it, I've really come to believe Rival is one of PJ's finest songs. They've covered a lot of emotional ground in their music, but I've not sure they've ever been unsettling, or even scary, in the way that song is.

Uhg, fuck this match up. I love MFC and Rival, but I agree with KD here... MFC is an underrated gem, but Rival is elite PJ.
