Toronto, 9/12/11 -- this version of "Sad" is outstanding, note-perfect and bursting with energy. I seem to remember this show devolving into a bit of "how does this one go again?" later on, but up until now (7-8 songs in) someone who doesn't know better could be forgiven for thinking 2011 might just turn out to be one of their better touring years.

Hard to believe we'll be coming up on PJ25 this year. So little has happened since PJ20.

Berlin 2014

funny thing about the Berlin shows..there might be better shows technically, but if you were there youll have Berlin as your go to show..

make it to Wulheide if ever you can,,they just play better there.

The 2009 and 2010 shows from Berlin are both very vibrant performances, despite technical errors throughout both of them. Haven't heard the '14 show but I was pleasantly surprised by the '14 shows in general.

They're all up there but it's about the venue..it's such a beautiful setting..seen the lads play live enough to know when they're lifted by something like that, and it really is a special place. in a great city too.

that adds everything to the atmosphere and normally great atmosphere/crowd shows arent great PJ shows technically speaking, in fact those shows are usually very sloppy performances, but Berlin raises it somehow. I don't know how, and that's ok. it just does somehow.

Berlin 2014 has In my tree into Go..and it works like a dream :)

big difference also....European audiences sing along naturally..US audiences have to be told sing.

im not counting the south Americans, they sing on their way to the bathroom and when they get there

My preference is that the audience keep their mouths shut unless absolutely necessary.

Philadelphia 10/3/2005

This may not be the greatest Pearl Jam show ever but it sure is a damn near perfect boot for my listening pleasure.

The setlist is exquisite:
Wash > Hail, Hail > Brain Of J. > Spin The Black Circle > Given To Fly > Sad > Alone (that's how you start a show!)

Green Disease > Faithfull > Whipping > Not For You/(Modern Girl)

The "Man" Trilogy (incl. one of the only versions of Betterman that I actually enjoy)

The best Encore 1 I've ever heard:
Around The Bend > Harvest Moon > Hard To Imagine > Crown Of Thorns > Crazy Mary (w/ the classic "ghost" incident) > Alive (superb version)

Plus In My Tree in Encore 2!

Vancouver 05. Slowly going through the 2005 tour, but not in chronological order.

Good start so far, but LBC is messy (sloppy guitar intro and some forgotten lyrics).

Hamilton 2011.

The best post-Backspacer setlist/performance combination? I'm willing to say yes.

There are a few rough moments and it's really long but you can't beat the setlist and a lot of it just smokes. But different strokes for different blokes. I generally respect your opinions something fierce and this is no different.
