Army reserve is the only song on the album that I really like. I like the verses of Marker, but I think the chorus takes the wind out of the songs sails. Parachutes is ok, it would probably sound a lot better if it were competently produced.

The rest is somewhere between garbage and complete and utter shit.

I love the MITS, Parachutes, Unemployable, Big Wave stretch and then going straight into Army Reserve makes it sweeter.

I always forget unemployable. That's not bad either.

Every song is good except for Comatose, which is still decent I guess.
Unemployable, Parachutes, Army Reserve and even World Wide Suicide are amongst my all time faves.

WWS sounds like nails on a chalk board to me. I hate that song more than any song by any artist.

It's a much better album if you start it at track 3 or 4. And piss Gone and IJ off.

Hell, we know the issues with it and those that really like still amend it.

WWS is the only song on the album that haunts me. Mostly I just pretend the last 3 albums don't exist.

They're all mini albums or eps to me. 4-6 tracks each and mostly enjoyable.

Ive always loved WWS a lot, I think the melodic verses work great with the more "punky" chorus.

Parachutes and Big Wave are very good.

Unemployable is very good musically but horrible lyrically.

Marker In The Sand and Army Reserve are decent.

The rest is crap.

the first 3 remain my favorite 1-2-3 run in the entire catalog. A great run of raw and ferocious songs.

5 Stars (each of these has been a top 10 song for me at one point. WWS and Comatose top 5)
Life Wasted
World Wide Suicide
Comatose

4 Stars
Parachutes
Come Back

3 Stars
Marker (closer to 4)
Severed Hand (closer to 4)
Army Reserve
Gone (that brickwall version really helped)
Reprise

2 Stars
Unemployable
Big Wave
Inside Job

thing is, S/T grew on me and I love it now. But after the same amount of time it took me to like S/T, I still hate Backspacer as much if not more.
Look, there's o guarantee you're going to like everything, or that something becomes your favorite. My point is just that it is much easier to open up to an album over time.

I've had a similar progression, though I don't love S/T. But over time, it's flaws stand out less than its successes. But Backspacer has just felt worse and worse over time.
