You certainly may be correct Stip. but equally it could be that you are in a failing relationship and you realise that you can never be what the other person needs or wants, no matter how hard you try. And even though it breaks your heart to admit, you know that it is true and that you will be on a rough road unless you get out of that relationship. Not all of that is in the lyrics but that's what I hear.
