that would get my vote, but instead it's once. In particular the RVM mix.

Once. In a landslide.

This, along with Go and Animal, is probably also on my running mix. More PJ on there than I thought.

Voting for "Parting Ways" because I don't think "Once" is very good live anymore.

"Parting Ways" has kind of lost its luster, but I always found "Once" really embarrassing. I almost want to vote for "Gremmie", but I guess I'll go with "Parting Ways".

"Parting Ways" is fine but I'm beginning to see that RM wildly overrates it.

Yep.

It's a nice song. But it's not far and away better than Once. I voted for PW because I like the lyrics better. That's about the only reason.

I have a softer spot for "Gremmie" than I do for many of PJ's goof-off tracks, as it was one of the first times I got to experience a newly released PJ track. I played it a lot more than I otherwise might have as a result. And Stone's surfer vocals are a treasure.

I don't think I rate "Parting Ways" as highly as some around here do, but it's also a song I forget to seek out, so when it comes around, it draws from a reserve of power that other PJ songs don't necessarily possess. I like the contrast between the E and E minor chords in the main progression.

I always thought Once was always a little over-rated. Parting Ways is perfectly rated: it's a great, moody song on an album full of great atmospherics. Love it.

Yes.

Parting Ways is a dull, draining slog.

Once is one of my favourite Pearl Jam songs.

draining is a good word to describe it. which is perfect for what the song does but makes it less enjoyable to listen to. ive always preferred the live versions.

and, of course, iceagecoming's masterpiece

First time I heard Parting Ways, I thought "what the fuck? this sounds like a more depressing Long Road." That hasn't changed...
Gremmie by a landslide, for being one of the best examples of the band having honest-to-god fun.
