21st - I'll be in Grapevine until the 24th/25th and leave for Orlando on the 30th. So, not many options there, bub. Going to be the same shit if PJ ever announces a tour this year... Fall tours don't work out so well for me.

Finally some Florida shows! I don't think they have ever played here except for the Radiohead/Sigur Ros ballet thing they did in Miami. I don't think that quite counts as a show though.

They're playing in St Louis the same day as NIN/EITS. I don't have the decision making skills to make the proper choice.

Man that's a tricky one. Have you seen either live before? I have been to 4 Sigur Ros shows and can just say that you will never see another concert like it. It's just the ultimate live experience. With that said, if Godspeed was opening the NIN show that would be my choice.Spirit Fingers wrote:They're playing in St Louis the same day as NIN/EITS. Either way you can't go wrong, but I HIGHLY recommend you catch Sigur Ros if you have never seen them live.

Budnick: It's like when Solomon King had to make his decision.
Z.Z.: You mean King Solomon when he had to cut the baby in half?
Budnick: No, I mean Solomon King. I went to school with the guy. He had front-row tickets to two incredible concerts on the same night, he had to make a decision.
Z.Z.: What'd he do?
Budnick: Well, he came down with the chicken pox, so he couldn't go to either one of them.

Re: Sigur Rós
I've decided that I think in many ways, tracks 7-9 are by-the-numbers Sigur Ros. I still really like them, but the originality stops at the title track, imo. I hate to say this because I can't stand wanting to retrack albums, but maybe the last three tracks could've been interspersed among the first ones rather than causing the album to fizzle out slightly. The last track being entirely piano is very much like Valtari.
But all in all, still a brilliant album and Sigur Ros seem to be incapable of making a bad one (after the clearing-of-the-throat which was Von).

So what does this album sound like as a whole? I don't feel like wasting my time if it's anything like the last two.

This album sounds like Sigur Ros again. Definitely give it a listen. I'd almost say it sounds like a cross between Takk and Agaetis ByrjunHeathen wrote:So what does this album sound like as a whole? I don't feel like wasting my time if it's anything like the last two.

I've always found tracking to be a problem of this band. Meò Suò just peters out for me after Festival.

I'd agree with this. Untitled closes on an absolute blinder, but it's kind of a slog to get there. Actually I find that album to be one of the greatest and most frustrating listens ever. I'm one of the minority who thinks there's quite a bit of filler on Agaetis Byrjun.Chris_H_2 wrote:I've always found tracking to be a problem of this band. Re: Sigur Rós
Harmless, what's your favorite Sigur Ros album? ( ) and Agaetis Byrjun are borderline flawless to me.
Meò Suò and that last album are the only 2 albums of theirs that I cannot make it through a full listen. Meò Suò in particular. I think I listened to that straight through once and never again since. Gódan daginn is one of the best songs they have ever written though so I'm still happy with the album overall.

Re: Sigur Rós
I just have to be in a very still and meditative mood to enjoy ( ). If I am, it's brilliant, as you say. It's certainly got some breathtaking pieces of music on it. I've had depression, anxiety and stress for a long time now, and I've just not been in the right place to be able to sit through it. I want music to be able to grab me quickly (in the case of Sigur Ros, by the heartstrings) and be somewhat digestible. I want discernible tunes, rhythms, song structure. That's not always been the case but it is now. I guess most of my go-to songs are on Takk. That album is a really consistent listen throughout. Having said that, I did love Valtari. Which is everything I said I wasn't in the mood for above. So you may as well ignore the lot of it.

Darn, the 2 bonus tracks on the Japanese release are the 2 other tracks from the Brennisteinn EP.
