Im really excited to see what this does for the sens.philpritchard wrote:Well this year and the next couple are essentially a write-off anyway, so, while I'll miss watching Phaneuf and think he was wildly under-appreciated during his time in Toronto, it was the right move, and it makes sense. By the time the Leafs are ready to really compete (which, even if things go perfectly, isn't likely to happen for at least three years or so) Phaneuf contract will be a hindrance. They got rid of him without having to retain anything, so that's nice.Dev wrote:I just signed on to come tell you. You cant feel good about this? I'm pretty psyched. Michalek is the only real loss.philpritchard wrote:So, Dev... um... shit just got weird.Dev wrote:SENS ARE LOOKING PRETTY GOOD TONIGHT, PHIL.
It makes sense for the Sens, too, unfortunately.

Still plenty of time left, but no Canadian teams are currently in a playoff spot in the standings. It's crazy that the only time that actually happened was in 1970, when only the Leafs and Habs were around.

Plenty of time left, but they're all pretty horrible. Ottawa's the only one I can reasonably see making a push, but I don't any of them will make it.chuck taylor wrote:Still plenty of time left, but no Canadian teams are currently in a playoff spot in the standings. We have some pretty serious problems going on right now, but Anderson was stellar last night, and we finally got a win.philpritchard wrote:Plenty of time left, but they're all pretty horrible. Points are points, really, but I would be pretty concerned about a shootout win against Buffalo.Dev wrote:We have some pretty serious problems going on right now, but Anderson was stellar last night, and we finally got a win.philpritchard wrote:Plenty of time left, but they're all pretty horrible. Don't get mecca's hopes up.
Semi-related: mecca, I just read a short story that uses Game 3 of the 1975 Stanley Cup finals (the bat/fog game) as a centerpiece. I can forward it to you if you want.

I can't decide if I want the Wild to perish or prevail at this point. I can't fucking believe they actually were ready to toss the season to get Yeo fired. its amazing to think but it kind of seems that way at this point considering how bad they were playing up until the new coach came in. Bullshit.
