NSA leak and online tracking

Post by broken iris »

Team,

This is a big story. Timed right as Bradley Manning's trial begins and now with the leak 'safely' in China, there is going to be a lot more coming out soon. Should have it's own thread.

Isnt there an extradition agreement between the US and Hong Kong?

Can't help but think this guy coming out is part of his don't kill me strategy. These guys are damned lucky they are American and not Chinese.

I find this guy's motives to be quite dubious. Did he think they would stop doing this once every knew? After a decade with them, he cannot be that dumb. He has got to realize that they just be more invasive and more paranoid and now go after anyone who communicates concerns far more aggressively to stop these leaks before they get to this point. He's just made things worse. I would not be surprised if this guy he been selling assets to China or Russia for years and this was a hail mary to try and orchestrate an internet supported following to cover up his wrong doing by poisoning the well. If tomorrow the US government says 'he was a spy for the PRC', would you believe them? Of course not, and thus his plan worked.

As with any whistleblower scenario or political topic that pops up, the most important thing we as Americans can do is invest more time judging people than programs.

We don't know much of anything about it, so we cannot judge it. We do know things about Mr. Snowden though.

Is this really whistleblowing?

It's the NSA, if he did anything he reassured people that they are in fact doing thier jobs.

The entire purpose of the agency is to spy on people yes American citizens.

To be honest, this was the most shocking part of the story for me. It was the CIA that hired him, Booz Allen too.

Man was matter, that was Snowden's secret. Drop him out a window and he'll fall. Set fire to him and he'll burn. Bury him and he'll rot, like other kinds of garbage. The spirit gone, man is garbage.

Honestly, though, I was just ribbing you. The whole "WHO IS THIS WHISTLEBLOWER" media thing is always so tiresome to me.

Booz Allen too.

You must not have met many BAH employees. They are the 'pharmaceutical salespeople' of the defense industry.

That's an awful lot of assuming...

Back in the good old days, didn't FISA require that at least one party in electronic communications be a foreign national, hence the first letter of the Acronym?
