Seriously? Wow, what a treat. I love this version. It's Eddie exploring the lower registers of his voice without any of the bullshit annunciation or breathiness that he resurrected, and amplified, on the later records. He just sounds so relaxed and natural, and his voice has the effect of a warm blanket. Off He Goes is another one with a similar quality. I wish he just used this voice for the new records, it would make the ballads so much easier going down.

This is exactly the point I make about the band's tendency to mess around with songs after the fact, access to the original ('real') versions is difficult, if not impossible without searching out some long-deleted release.
