I have to be in the right mood to sit through Nothing As It Seems, it's sometimes too ponderous and downbeat. I also feel like it's 90% of the way to what it's trying to achieve but doesn't quite make it to the other side of the hill.
I really enjoy Hitchhiker on a melodic level and the the bargain-basement Sonic Youth jam in the middle is great. It's an underappreciated gem.

I've never spenno as much. Between Hail Hail, Big Wave, and Hitchhiker, he's been spot on. Well, except for voting for Hitchhiker over NAIS. Still though, I love the love Hitchhiker is getting, it is indeed a gem.

I was sitting in my basement on the family computer, using one of those car cassette adapters people used to hook their discman up to their car tape deck to record it on my boombox. What a time to be alive.
I was sitting in my car, pulled over in a Taco Bell parking lot the first time I hear NAIS. It devastated me. I still remember hearing the solo and cheering.
