I have to be in the right mood to sit through Nothing As It Seems, it's sometimes too ponderous and downbeat. I also feel like it's 90% of the way to what it's trying to achieve but doesn't quite make it to the other side of the hill.
I really enjoy Hitchhiker on a melodic level and the the bargain-basement Sonic Youth jam in the middle is great. It's an underappreciated gem.

Future Days is probably my least favorite studio song by the band, unless I'm forgetting something. It makes Inside Job seem like Stairway to Heaven.
I'd be happy if NAIS made it to the elite 8 or something - it's damn good. A perfect success in Binaural sound.

Listening to it on headphones through a computer in the dorm lounge with a bunch of idiots around me. hearing that version this day brings me right back to that time. What a joy that was to hear.cutuphalfdead wrote:sameEJ wrote:Its debut at Bridge School '99 remains one of my all time favorite Pearl Jam memories.

I was sitting in my basement on the family computer, using one of those car cassette adapters people used to hook their discman up to their car tape deck to record it on my boombox. What a time to be alive.Strat wrote:Listening to it on headphones through a computer in the dorm lounge with a bunch of idiots around me. hearing that version this day brings me right back to that time. I was sitting in my car, pulled over in a Taco Bell parking lot the first time I hear NAIS. It devastated me. I still remember hearing the solo and cheering.
