This is the first PJ of any form that I have listenned to in months and I gotta say it sounds damn fine.

I'm torn on ordering this - on one hand, I'd love to own a CD of the show - but on the other hand, the incompleteness of it irks me.

I'm willing to cut them some slack in regards to incomplete archival shows. They didn't (at the time) have any firm intention of releasing these performances so I presume they took a pretty relaxed approach to making sure absolutely everything got recorded at every show. Brett was running the live mix as well as recording the shows so I can easily imagine times when his attention might've been needed elsewhere when a tape ran out, etc.

For sure. I'm with you on this one. I will not however forgive editing shows because someone in the band is ashamed of a past lover. Which I'm not saying is happening here.

Matt's playing in 1998 is so much more sympathetic to the material than it would be on subsequent tours. Listening to Black and RVM, the fills and changes in dynamics he works into the songs are fantastic.

Yeah, his drumming in 98 was noticeably excellent (to me as compared to now-a-days). The drums in GtF from "Lo2L" is probably the main thing that got me into PJ in a big big way. Listenning to him here is again fantastic.

Push Me, Pull Me on here is pretty cool even if the first bit is missing. Shame they lost a bit of it. Mike's guitar playing is pretty cool on this incarnation, much better than when they resurrected it from Philly 09 onwards.

Yeah its a great idea if they quit cutting the shows up. Nobody really cares if Ed mentions Beth or whatever.. just leave the shows as is and release em.

I'm pretty sure they're not omitting mentions of Beth for the fans; I suspect Ed is probably doing it for himself and his current wife. And honestly, while as a listener I find it frustrating, as a husband I completely understand and respect why he does it.

That said, I would much prefer they do it this way and just omit the song altogether, rather than genetically modify the actual content of the song a la "Oceans" from Unplugged.
