Other than Pearl Jam, who else is there?

Agreed. Kanye is far superior.
It's useless to argue with you, so I won't, but you should probably listen to more Nas.
I've heard every Nas album, Nate. Like I said, Nas is great.

I'm glad to hear that. But it's seriously getting to the point with him where I don't believe he's making the music almost. Like how can you make music that great and have a persona and rapping ability (in my opinion) that bad. It's really kind of bizarre.

I wish he would just say fuck it and make an album where he just produces, cause it would be really, really great.
Dude, his music is a direct manifeststion of his mind and persona. You can't have one without the other. And I wouldn't want to.

I guess dude. It was almost borderline disrespectful to me what he did at the end of Ultra Light Beam on SNL. Let us linger in this great thing you created for a hot second. Just let it be. Fuck.

Doesn't it worry you the lyrical manifestations of a douche speak to you in such a profound way LV? And further, that your bizarrely high level of identification with said doucheness puts you in such a clear position of bias?

The biggest Kanye fan in the would should be able to cede superiority to Nas in the areas we've discussed. Even Kanye knows this....why do you think he has people like Chance dropping atomic bomb like verses on his albums?

1. I don't think Kanye is a douche.
2. A lot of the people I relate to the most are generally considered "wackos" (Armond White, John Milius, Mel Gibson).
3. I already said Nas is a technically superior rapper and a better wordsmith.

So you admit this was just trolling? Say yes and I'll leave the Mel Gibson thing alone.

It made sense to me, but admittedly I am not well versed in Nas or Kanye.

If LV can't acknowledge Kanye is a douchebag then any discussion on the matter is pointless anyway.

I feel the same way about Kanye as I do about Mark Kozelek. Koz has written some of the most beautiful and meaningful music for me and my life is better for it. But if I spent any time interacting with the man the interaction would go south quickly.

At least with most of Kozeleks music pushing a douchey persona isn't like a performance art thing that needs to be included in the music. It's easier to put up with a douche singer songwriter in most respects.

Ryan Adams is another good example. I'd have zero time for that guy in real life. But it doesn't bleed into the music much in his case either.

A certain amount of bravado comes with the territory in Kanyes genre so its tolerable in most cases with him. Sometimes it's even funny. But I don't take his words seriously. The production value of the product is why he holds my attention.
