We saw Sophia after the fact. And I think there might have been a couple kids in the prison. This show is totes cool with killing kids.

Right, but I think this is the first time we actually see a kid get brutally murdered.

You could be right, but it's not like we didnt all see it coming, and we all hated that kid. I think the Sophia zombie and the Crazy Bitch killing her little sister and subsequently getting killed by carol was far more impactful. Seeing sam get eaten really didnt do anything more than any asshole character getting it.

Oh, I wasn't surprised at all. I was just interested in the fact that they finally broke down that boundary. I think tv ratings execs definitely view adult and adolescent death scenes very differently, so I found it at least somewhat significant. There are recognizable differences in emotional impact when you see a child killed vs seeing one as a zombie, seeing one recently dead, or hearing one die off screen. I find it all quite interesting.

Carl is basically an adult now, right? They should go ahead and off him.

Is it normal that my immediate reaction to that was "Ugh, finally!" or is that weird?

I mean... if it was a real kid getting eaten by real zombies, I wouldn't have reacted that way. If that changes anything.

Normally bad stuff happening to kids on TV bothers me but that kid was annoying. It didn't help that the emotion of the scene was somewhat undercut but editing and direction choices.

Yeah, you could tell he was going to die at some point, and it seemed like it was going to be soon. In the meantime he was endangering the other characters and annoying me as a viewer, so the extent of my reaction was basically "There, now we can move on." It was the first "good guy" death that's made me feel that way.

I was disappointed that it resulted in Jessie's death, though.

where were they going, by the way (i don't recall from the mid-season episode), and why did it take so long to get there? the leave the house in daylight and when that shit goes down it's night. even if it went from daylight to night in an hour, it doesn't take a fucking hour to meander across alexandria no matter where they were:

and on the saying 'fuck' discussion from earlier, the oj simpson series on fx dropped a 'motherfucker' on us last night. but walking dead can't. ok then.

I guess it's cool to post this now. Such a brutal, awe-shock moment in the book.

Just because you're telling a science fiction story based in the real world doesn't mean you have an end all excuse for any logical fallacies that are incorporated into a show; like what time of day it is from one end of an episode to the next. It's just lazy.

That map seems wrong to me. But the argument still holds.
