The only question is how hard he's gonna push Tidal.

Re: Kanye West
It won't matter how hard. At the end of the day people will be like 'fine idgaf really anyway' or steal it. Kanye shouldn't have dropped out of school.

Re: Kanye West
It would be funny if all the artists associated with Tidal turned the Grammys into a big infomercial. The media could be outraged, detractors would be called racists, bloggers would declare it brilliant, and everyone else will just pirate the album like they always do.

"Kanye's genius" is more real than "overpopulation," Burt.

Can someone who thinks Africa is a country truly be considered a genius?

Re: Kanye West
At this point they might as well give it away free and tour their asses off. No money otherwise.

Is that "perfect!" soundbyte (that appears in "Father Stretch My Hands" and then again in "Facts") from "NBA Jam?"

I like Waves a lot, but I kinda wish there was another Kanye verse.

Also, I don't exactly know what style of beat that is at the end of "Famous" (Caribbean dance hall???), but I dig the shit out of it.

Re: Kanye West
Formally (if not at all sonically), this album reminds me of "Embryonic" by the Flaming Lips -- 18 tracks of mind-bending, bricolage-style sprawl, where everything goes together because nothing does, where the music shifts focus on a dime not only between but also within tracks, causing the album to whiz by like you're watching it from the window of a moving vehicle, yet leaving you in the end feeling like you've experienced a work of epic cinema. If you're not watching the track changes, it's not immediately clear if certain fragments are outros to one song or intros to another, or if they're abrupt mid-song interjections, or if they're some standalone thing entirely. Very cool stuff.
My opinion on Kanye's rapping, singing, lyrics, etc. varies from track to track, but after one good listen I find the whole thing plays through very nicely and has a lot more individual moments that are in line with my tastes than "Yeezus" did. "Ultra Light Beam," "FML," and "Real Friends" are probably my favorite tracks so far.

Re: Kanye West
"Ultralight Beam" is very likely his best song ever. I mean how the fuck do you argue with a beauty like that?
