I'd say its more likely that the girl really hurt Ed, and misguided or not he wanted to remove the memory of her from that recording.

It's good. Hearing it, and that "Brain of J" that was on pj.com from the Australian tour makes me want all of 1998 so bad. That version of Brain of J was the absolute best version of it I've ever heard; it was Pearl Jam at the top of their game. I wish I would have make more of an effort to see them that tour, but I did get 2 shows (Tibetan Freedom and Greenville, SC).

yeah, i agree...im not talking about the band, i was surprised yesterday after listening to CH 98 and then some 2013 boot how little eddie´s voice changed in some ways.

He sounds more airy to me. I'm not sure if that's the right word to use, but the barritone doesn't seem to be there as much. Then there is the warble thing...I hear it in the Constitution Hall show during Given To Fly ("he got wup outta there..."), so maybe that is the tour it started? Seems to mee that that it's just gotten worse. Like when I heard the Toronto show from 2011, it was the first time in a long time I've listened to a recent boot, and I was taken back how bad the warble was.

I have no idea. Perhaps using her name to sing a song and sell it for profit? No clue. Or maybe she threatened to drive into eds big fancy house if he kept putting bootlegs out with him talking about her

In any event, they've been apart for 14 years, and while I don't presume to know much about her feelings on the matter, I doubt she keeps close tabs on upcoming Pearl Jam releases for potential mentions of her name. From what I understand she has a family now and has moved on with her life.

I agree that it's fairly unlikely, but then again, how likely is it that Ed or his wife feel strongly enough about these passing utterances as to force the mixers to cover them up or cut them prior to releasing an iconic performance. There's really no rational reason for these kind of edits.
