I'd call her good, but not great. She conveys her characters very well without imbuing them with anything beyond what's on the page.

I can see that, I can definitely see the "training" you're talking about. I think that so far it's worked for her characters. For example, her character in ZDT would probably be overly composed given that she's a young woman in such intense circumstances. I'd love to see something where she really lets go, lets herself get raw and messy.

Crimson Peak was the closest I've come to liking her, because it calls for something a little over-the-top and actorly.

Also a huge fan. It was one of his first books I ever read as a teen, and I counted it as one of my favorites for a long time. Now I'd put it firmly in the middle of the pack. My top 5 King books:

I've not read any Dark Tower books beyond The Gunslinger, simply because I want to read all his stand-alone books before tackling that series. Only have a handful left to get through, but keep putting off poorly-reviewed ones like Rose Madder and Dreamcatcher.

Also a huge fan. It was one of his first books I ever read as a teen, and I counted it as one of my favorites for a long time. Now I'd put it firmly in the middle of the pack. My top 5 King books:
