Ah.

Yeah, I love the 12. I know the 15 yr reserve is a lot harder to come by. But I might almost like the 12 more. I don't know. I'd have to think about it.

Either way... delicious and congratulations.

I wasn't able to choose which one I was allotted...it was only between 10,12, and 15 on the order form..still only cost $87 with shipping

And just to be clear, it's absolutely delicious and dangerously drinkable. But I wouldn't call it a Manhattan.

I always wondered how these were. Do you drink it over ice, I presume?
Delicious.
Yes, over ice.
It goes down a little too smooth, you know?
Cool. I'll pick up one of those when I see them. Sometimes the specialty High West stuff is hard to get in TX.

We have the large ice cubes, so technically it's over one big rock in a rocks glass.
Oh.

Carry on, then...

Fighting Cock is quite good, cheap and strong. Someone recommended it to me as one of the best cheap bourbons and I'm glad they did.

A few months ago I picked up an independent bottling of a 37 yr old Glen Grant, and finally opened it. It's nice.

I need more than "nice," durds. My vicarious tasting of presumably expensive Scotch can't really get off on "nice."

It's REALLY nice?

 That was just after my first sip.

It's definitely single origin, and if I understood what came with the bottle, DT bought stocks and Glen Grant just aged it for them. The label lists cask number, when it was barrelled and bottled, and its proof.

It's floral on the nose with fruits. It's sweeter than I expected (but I've never had a Glen Grant or anything this old for that matter) with a big apple note and thick mouth feel. It's 102 proof and you feel it on the finish with the sherry, oak and spice.

So I may save my pennies and buy a different Duncan Taylor release in the future. It's still not cheap, but its more accessible cost wise than other scotches of that age.

I originally picked it up for a tasting I'm hosting this weekend--whiskey old enough to drink itself--and took the plunge to spot light independent bottlers as a way to get really old scotch without spending thousands.
