Re: PRAMG Top 10
You may be right, stip, but if that's the case, I wish the band would have less caveats on what their songs, sound and shows need to be. Taking all that into account, it would seem like they've pigeonholed themselves into an unnecessarily narrow lane, in terms of what they're capable of and what the band could be.

Re: PRAMG Top 10
Ok, maybe I should make myself more clear. I vote for PRAMG to be changed to PSTSF. The Post-Self-Titled Suck Fest. That way we avoid the unfair money grab reference AND the false assumption that S/T is shite just because it's part of the post-Riot Act era. In other words, S/T DOES NOT SUCK!!!LoathedVermin72 wrote:I fully admit that I view the PRAMG label as funny way to disparage a relatively shitty period of the band's discography. For me, it really has nothing to do with anything beyond the music being uninteresting.

Re: PRAMG Top 10
Feels like they view themselves more as entertainers now rather than artists.
That is what disappoints me. Yes, I still enjoy and love Pearl Jam, but I think they are capable of far greater things at this point in their career. Their legacy is cemented. I would like for them to challenge their own created status quo.

I don't know how broadly that kind of interactive experience translates beyond the shows in the US, even to shows that aren't in the northeast US. From personal experience, I think the amount of hardcore fans who know every b-side intimately and are members of the Ten Club and so on at the Australian shows is very small and I'd imagine that's the same in Europe too.

I though everybody sang every single word PLUS sang sing-a-longs PLUS sang guitar riffs in the South America shows.Birds in Hell wrote:I don't know how broadly that kind of interactive experience translates beyond the shows in the US, even to shows that aren't in the northeast US. The South American shows seem to be their own unique experience, quite distinct from the kind of thing I think happens at shows in Boston, New York, Philadephia, etc.Leatherhead wrote:I though everybody sang every single word PLUS sang sing-a-longs PLUS sang guitar riffs in the South America shows.Birds in Hell wrote:I don't know how broadly that kind of interactive experience translates beyond the shows in the US, even to shows that aren't in the northeast US. I suspect it also reflects the culture of the crowds at those shows more than it does any special relationship created by the band, it was something that was apparent from their first shows down there.

The South American shows are also pretty hits-heavy by comparison, I think.

Re: PRAMG Top 10
The sing along thing seems to be a rather common phenomenon here, not just in Pearl Jam concerts, there seems to be some kind of rivalry about "being the best crowd" between different countries.

I've been listening to this sequence quite often over the last two weeks, and I really like it. The flow is very solid, and that was my main focus. It's a really enjoyable listen. It would've made a really great album.

God, it was really hard to find songs post-Riot Act that I genuinely love. I only actually "love" the top 4 here. The rest are just the best of a bad bunch...
