Some really great players were/are "out of shape". Tony Gwynn, Kirby Puckett, David Ortiz, Brock Holt...

Local AM radio is a tough beat, Skitch. Who among us hasn't taken a bump when editing together a story on changing parking ordinances in Brighton?@SkitchP wrote:Simple Torture wrote:I'm sure that somewhere chud felt a tingling and didn't know why.E.H. Re: MLB
Well pitchers and designated hitters can get away with it. Position players should at least try to be in shape right?

Honestly, it all depends on how well you can produce with your body the way it is. Babe Ruth is the all time greatest and he was a fat fuck.
Everyone is saying Pablo needs to get in shape to be productive and I'm just not sure. Maybe he does, but it's not like he was in great shape for the Giants and then got fat and fell off a cliff. He was always a big guy, and was pretty damned good for a while there despite that.

Yeah, the Pablo stuff is ridiculous. They are acting like he showed up 200lbs over his normal weight.cutuphalfdead wrote:Honestly, it all depends on how well you can produce with your body the way it is. Babe Ruth is the all time greatest and he was a fat fuck.

They should really be talking about how he insists on switch-hitting when the numbers suggest he should stop.

Yeah, but i think most people (well, me!) knew that he wasn't climbing back up that cliff without losing some weight. That weight likely shortened his career, and know that he needed to put forth some extra effort if he was going to regain some value.
I look forward to when DD has a moment like this in boston

I just hate how they are trying to make this guy miserable because they have nothing else to talk about, or are too lazy to come up with something interesting to talk about@SkitchP wrote:cutuphalfdead wrote:Honestly, it all depends on how well you can produce with your body the way it is.
