Missed Pearl Jam

Post by tooch »

July 1991 (I'm old). went to see soul asylum at the metro in Chicago. had no idea who Pearl jam was. they opened and I skipped it. didn't see them again into 1994 at the old stadium. anybody else skip Pearl jam back in the day?

I missed my chance for tickets at Toledo 1996 three separate times.

(1) Ten Club Sale
(2) Public sale when the phone lines melted
(3) Public sale after they fixed the phone lines

I think you missed the point of the thread, B. This seems to be a thread about accidental/oblivious misses.

Yes.

Burlington, VT 1991. I had no interest in this band yet, but my roommate invited me. I passed.

Randall's Island 1996. I was living on the UES at the time and knew about the concert which was basically a stones throw away. I, for reasons still unknown, made no attempt to see either of these shows.

I passed on State College 2003 to attend Hershey instead (which was closer) because I knew it would be a gigantic sausage fest, and I figured Hershey would be a better show because the venue was smaller and it was more towards the end of the tour. Hershey was a pretty good show, but I'm sure you know what I'm getting at.

I missed out seeing them in Charleston, SC in 1996. Really wish I would have seen that one so I could have seen the band with Jack. As such, my first show was two years later at the Tibetan Freedom Concert in '98, then my first proper show in Greenville, SC '98.

My friend called me to offer me Chicago '98 tickets when I was in high school, but I wasn't home so he called someone else instead. I was pretty mad about that.

1996 tour had no/little promotion. They didn't play the city I lived in but I would have gladly traveled to Miami to see the tour closer that I didn't know about.

Showbox 2002: I scalped a ticket miraculously night 1 for $60. Night 2 I just didn't have enough cash to scalp one.

March 95 - think it was the first time they'd played in NZ, passed to go see R.E.M. a couple of months earlier

after getting tix to night 1 i didn't wait to see if they'd announce a 2nd boston show in 2004 before booking my flight home for the 29th. while i certainly enjoyed n1, n2 was the more desirable show. still have never seen parting ways or alone, and hearing the throwback i've got a feeling would have been cool.

I passed on seeing the band in 2003 too, I was out of Pearl Jam fandom completely at that point. No interest at all.

I liked Riot Act but was put off by all the Triple M promotion and bogan activity. Plus I just bought the bootlegs. And 2006-07 was a low point both fan wise and financially.

So I hear!

I too thought I was too cool for Pearl Jam at that time.
