they really made me appreciate the sane Targaryeans and the effort they put into Aegon learning what it would be like to be just one of the smallfolk

Yeah, I found it quite illuminating to actually see the Targaryens in power. It also brings into stark relief what a roll of the dice a hereditary monarchy really is.Mecca wrote:they really made me appreciate the sane Targaryeans and the effort they put into Aegon learning what it would be like to be just one of the smallfolk

I'm really hoping GRRM reads from WoW this weekend. I'd love another sample chapter out there.

I started the series for the second time. Slowly making my way through Game of Thrones. Really have enjoyed Jon and Tyrion's chapters early on.

You should read the combined AFFC/ADWD when you get there.Monkey_Driven wrote:I started the series for the second time. Slowly making my way through Game of Thrones. Really have enjoyed Jon and Tyrion's chapters early on.

Ooo, good call. Might be a pain to carry around two books instead of one, but I like the idea.cutuphalfdead wrote:You should read the combined AFFC/ADWD when you get there.Monkey_Driven wrote:I started the series for the second time. Yeah, the kindle made it easier but it's definitely worth it.Monkey_Driven wrote:Ooo, good call. At the rate I'm going I might not make it too books 4 & 5 until mid-summer. Plenty of time for reading then though.cutuphalfdead wrote:Yeah, the kindle made it easier but it's definitely worth it.Monkey_Driven wrote:Ooo, good call. I feel like it will make the Feast of Crows material more enjoyable. That was a tough one to get through at times.Zantac Junkie wrote:I highly recommend this.cutuphalfdead wrote:You should read the combined AFFC/ADWD when you get there.Monkey_Driven wrote:I started the series for the second time. Re: A Song Of Ice and Fire (Spoilers for all Published Books
That was definitely where I noticed the biggest improvement, but it really aids the overall story to read it in a linear, chronological narrative. It also breaks up the never ending slog of Cersei chapters in AFFC, which infuriated me the first time I read it.Monkey_Driven wrote:I feel like it will make the Feast of Crows material more enjoyable. The Brienne chapters were worse.Zantac Junkie wrote:That was definitely where I noticed the biggest improvement, but it really aids the overall story to read it in a linear, chronological narrative. I like the Brienne chapters. It felt so small and inconsequential compared to everything else, but I think that gave it some charm.
