This record is definitely growing on me.

yeah. i guess i don't mind them so much... though it does sound a little weird hearing him sing in a major key over the chorus of Demons.

They played a free show last night in Toronto for NxNE.. It was the first time I've seen them live and I thought they were great.

I didn't know what to expect (in terms of sound quality) since it was a free show outdoors, but the sound was really good.

I think they only played about half of the new album, but they were the songs that I like/wanted to hear. They did play a lot from High Violet, which was great.

Since my car's stock MP3 player has issues I put the National's LP discog in the changer; it is quite a different experience to listen with outside noise but still picking up certain bits. Still on my first go 'round, as I don't drive much, but I must say that I love this new album with an ardent fervor.

I LOVE this album. The best part about it is that I enjoy it even more with each listen. So far I have four songs that I consider 5-Star (Classic) tracks: Humiliation, Don't Swallow the Cap, Demons & Graceless. Every other song is 4-Stars (Very Good) except Fireproof (3-Stars). This is easily the best new album I've heard in 2013.

Coincidentally, High Violet was my #1 of 2010.

My ranking would be pretty similar.

I'm surprised The National RM fan doesn't seem to like this album, I think its one of their best. The top 7 or 8 are fantastic.

Same. And since we are ranking...

01. Humiliation
02. Don't Swallow The Cap
03. Demons
04. Sea Of Love
05. Graceless
06. I Should Live In Salt
07. I Need My Girl
08. Hard To Find
09. This Is The Last Time
10. Slipped
11. Pink Rabbits
12. Heavenfaced
13. Fireproof

The difference between #1 and #12 is so minimal. Fireproof is the only real misfire on the album for me - it's still OK but nowhere near as good as any of the other songs.

It's amazing how similar our lists are. Well played indeed.

This Is The Last Time is probably the one that's grown on me most from initial listens...

this version from Q the other day was amazing:
