Puckett was a gold glove CFer. He was super athletic.

John Kruk is the first that came to my mind. He may not have been great, but was really good.

My news feed on fb is already overrun with cubs fans acting like this is the year. Slam dunk. Sure, I think they are the favorites but what does that even mean? 25% odds at best? It's not like a sport like the NBA where the best players have such incredible individual influence over the game that there are only 2 or 3 contenders this year. I'd be stunned if the warriors don't win this year. This cubs thing is just as likely ending in some sort of epic fail to add to the lovable loser legacy as it is a WS title.

Play him in left and live with the bad defense in exchange for ideally the NL leader in home runs getting four at bats every day. I realize his limitations aren't ideal but that's the best plan.

the problem then is 2/3 of your outfield is manned by 2 of the worst defenders in all of baseball. I mean, I know that that's what they'll do, but it's still a pretty big hole.

It will be. And Fowler's awful in CF, ranking almost rock bottom.

I thought you were talking about Soler. At any rate, if the pressing issues for the cubs are things like 'who is going to back up Rizzo at 1b?!' and not having a gold glove left fielder then I think they are probably going to still be okay.

I readily admit that I'm nitpicking.

If Schwarber ends up being a disaster in the outfield everyday, they'll have no problem dealing him for pitching at the deadline. There's no real downside putting him out there.

After signing Fowler, does that mean Schwarber plays in left, Fowler in Center and Heyward in Right?

Heyward would play a very good center and could cover for Schwarber I'd think.

I think Schwarber Fowler Heyward is probably the best configuration regardless of Fowlers limitations. Fowler doesn't have the arm to be a right fielder does he?

at Wrigley? Dave Dravecky still has the arm to be a right fielder.
