Re: The Supreme Court
yeah that liscensure argument is pretty weak tea, SS. I'm happy to entertain the possibility that that particular test may not be worthwhile, or that there should be subsidies available for license tests for people below a certain income threshold. But the idea of liscensure is meant to ensure that people who interact with the public in a particular profession are qualified. I know that the process itself can be abused, but the principle itself is perfectly reasonable.
Abortion is a private, self-regarding matter, and one of life and death where the consequences are far greater than whether or not you can get a job in a particular industry without jumping through an annoying hoop.

Re: The Supreme Court
I was gonna be a bus driver, but they wanted me to go to the DMV and pay some bullshit $30 fee to get, I don't know, a driver's license or some shit? Fuck them. Put me in the bus. I'm a smart guy. I'll figure out the buttons!
Seriously though, I'd like an example of a profession that requires license where the only person's well being you're risking is your own.

I could've sworn I posted this earlier, but apparently didn't hit submit: the scuttlebutt is that Obama is going to announce a nominee on Wednesday.

Did he just confess to smothering Scalia to death with a pillow?

Melted cheese on Ritz is one of my favorite snacks; I've been eating it since I was 5.

A 63-year old, eh? Seems like someone he could be happy with but not his first choice if things were more favorable in the Senate.@SkitchP wrote:Merrick Garland.Simple Torture wrote:I could've sworn I posted this earlier, but apparently didn't hit submit: the scuttlebutt is that Obama is going to announce a nominee on Wednesday.

Skitch admit that you just hurried in here to post this before GH did, and you got satisfaction out of doing so. If Rs are panicking about Trump I wonder if they might be more inclined to strike a deal right now.

Re: The Supreme Court
That seems to be the consensus among talking heads on TV. If Garland gets confirmed, he'd probably be on the court for 15-20 years. If Clinton wins the presidency and nominates someone younger, they could be on the bench for 35-40 years.stip wrote:If Rs are panicking about Trump I wonder if they might be more inclined to strike a deal right now.
