i think they can do whatever with the franchise with all the alternate timelines and the habit of movies to not really worry about if it makes sense.

I read that Wolverine carries a photograph from the future in his pocket and as the movie progresses people fade in and out of it.

Me too, but Bryan Singer's slow mo shots are even more annoying than Zach Snyder's.

The X-Men universe has not developed enough good characters to make enough of these people stand out, and nothing I've seen in the trailers about the new ones this time out.

This looks like a good example of the super hero fatigue problem. There are enough of these movies out now that you either better have a take we haven't seen a million times or characters that can carry you through an overly familiar story. Not sure they have either.

Yeah, I don't disagree. I liked X-Men First Class a lot. But even that wasn't enough to get me to see Days of Future Past yet. *shrugs*

But I do want to see it. And I'll want to see this too at some point. But, yeah, I'm not really chomping at the bit or anything.

days of future past was perfectly enjoyable, but it lacks the compulsive watchabiltiy of the MCU. It's in between the bleakness of Snyder's films and the 'hey, the whole premise of super heroes are absurd so lets have fun with it' tone of the MCU, where even the more serious movies like Winter Soldier have a lighthearted feel that helps them go down smooth. So no one is having fun, but it doesn't feel like anything is at stake. They don't rise to the all caps sense of SELF-IMPORTANCE that it looks like Snyder is aspiring to.

I wish Vaughn was allowed to stay with the series.

I'd certainly watch guardians and avengers 2 (which was solid, and got much better on the second viewing and will only improve as its various seeds start sprouting in later films) over days of future past.

I'm not, no. I was hoping to sneak in and grab a last minute ticket like I did in Brooklyn. But my wife's good friend is getting married in Kansas that weekend. I won't be in NYC at all. :(
