It means that in an age where the NFL encourages parody (salary cap era) that at least one team created a strategy - from drafting to free agents to managing the cap - where it competes year-after-year, I guess.Electromatic wrote:What does that say about the rest of the AFC?Coach wrote:![]()
Clearly, the Raiders, did this as well, but in a different era. And, the Bills, too, with their four straight trips.

I also feel like Brady has become his childhood hero and more, Guys go to New England and become better than they are elsewhere, backs, receivers, linemen, coaches.Coach wrote:It means that in an age where the NFL encourages parody (salary cap era) that at least one team created a strategy - from drafting to free agents to managing the cap - where it competes year-after-year, I guess.Electromatic wrote:What does that say about the rest of the AFC?Coach wrote:![]()

It's the gold standard right now, like Walsh era San Francisco.
We can talk about their interpretation of the rules another time but like Alabama's defense in College Football, I just admire the way they play the game.

Not sure what you mean by interpretation of the rules, but the Pats never cheated the salary cap while Seattle and Denver, during its two titles in the 90s, did.Electromatic wrote:I also feel like Brady has become his childhood hero and more, Guys go to New England and become better than they are elsewhere, backs, receivers, linemen, coaches.Coach wrote:It means that in an age where the NFL encourages parody (salary cap era) that at least one team created a strategy - from drafting to free agents to managing the cap - where it competes year-after-year, I guess.Electromatic wrote:What does that say about the rest of the AFC?Coach wrote:![]()

I'm sure he'll be very hurt that he's fallen out of your pantheon.Coach wrote:Last year, the general consensus here on the board was that Rogers was currently the best QB in the league. I'm so sorry, but his performance this past year eliminates him from that discussion.

Given how sensitive he is about his height, I wouldn't be surprised.Orpheus wrote:I'm sure he'll be very hurt that he's fallen out of your pantheon.Coach wrote:Last year, the general consensus here on the board was that Rogers was currently the best QB in the league. Re: New England Patriots
An extra point early or FG late would have been nice.
What an odd game and gameplan. Taking the ball first and then not attempting a drive with two minutes left in the first half. Two goose eggs on 4th down in the red zone. It seemed unpatriot-like.

From The MMQB:
To the three or four rushers the Denver Broncos sent careening towards Tom Brady on any given down, the five men standing in front of them might as well have been rec league hoopers taking on the Golden State Warriors. Sebastian Vollmer, Marcus Cannon and company were deserving of no more respect than a quick step to the inside and a sprint around the corner. And the quarterback was subject to all manner of indignity in a 20-18 loss.
“I tried to lay on him a few times,” said one Broncos rusher after the game. “I tried to rub my nuts on his face.”
It was probably Von Miller who said that, right?
Yeah, probably.

Re: New England Patriots
I just read (on the internet so I know it's true) that Tom Brady has a foundation which shares an address with the team...long story short it's another way for the team to pay him a ton of money outside the salary cap.
