I like how when she was asked "what if you get indicted?" she just yelled "that's not going to happen" and waited for the crowd to cheer. Holy fuck.

That was... kinda cool. Even though I kinda hope she wins.

They can use it for future runs, or donate it to charities or other parties/candidates.tommymtcom wrote:What happens to all that money if he drops out? Students also told me that they asked Bernie how his brand of socialism is different than Castro's. If true that's also an absurd question. Neither of those questions should be dignified with a response.

I actually like that question. It's not that I don't understand the difference between Sanders' "Democratic Socialism" and the more despotic Soviet/Marxist style we saw in the 20th century, it's that "Socialism" is a trigger word for many, many people and Bernie could do a lot to assuage fear of his policies by explaining he is not going to be taking everyone's 401k and giving it to illegal immigrants or paying off puppetry major's student loans.4/5 wrote:

Interesting analysis on what went down in Michigan and why the polls were so wrong.

My statement wasn't about her answer but more about her yelling it and waiting for the crowd to cheer. I hate that. But to be fair, I hate that about any of the candidates that do it. Trump is the worst.4/5 wrote:I mean that's a pretty bush league question, isn't it?E.H. Some Clinton supporters chose to vote in the Republican primary. We know 7 percent of voters in the Republican primary identified themselves as Democrats to exit pollsters, compared with just 4 percent of voters in the Democratic primary who said they were Republicans. “Those 7 percent of Dems were likely mostly Hillary voters who thought she had an easy win and they could do their part trying to stop [Donald] Trump,” said Bernie Porn of pollster EPIC-MRA. The exit-poll samples are too small, though, to check that.

why are either of those absurd questions?
Bernie has answered that question and done a good job of it on NPR several times.
Hillary and the Clinton's in general have spent quite a bit of time in the last two decades embroiled in some kind of legal struggle. She very well could be indicted... If anything you need to ask that question as a moderator. She shouted it down because it's bad PR for her, but the Clinton's do that with all the bad PR that they generate for themselves.
If a debate is going to be anything more than a commercial for a candidate, they should be asked to answer difficult questions, especially for the job for which they are applying
Personally I find it absurd that a canidate for president lives her life in such a way that she could possibly be indicted. She's a female, democrat party version of Richard Nixon.

Couldn't say for sure, but I don't think that would be kosher. Donations given for a particular candidacy couldn't then be allocated towards running for another position, right? Just sounds amoral.tommymtcom wrote:Could he use it for his next senate run? Re: Election 2016
I'm all for tough questions. "What if you're indicted?" is in my opinion not a tough question, but a loaded question. Her only possible response is that that isn't going to happen. She can't even entertain the possibility of it. So ask her if somebody who has the specter of criminal indictment hanging over them should be running for president. Or ask about the cloud of suspicion and distrust that surrounds her. Or ask about her role in these scandalous things. She wouldn't answer any of them directly because that's what politicians do, but the question would be more fair.Electromatic wrote:4/5 wrote:I mean that's a pretty bush league question, isn't it?E.H. I thought the indictment question was pretty ridiculous. The possibility of Hillary actually being indicted is miniscule. But in all honesty, there is some evidence that this kind of stuff actually helps her. The African-American community in particular seems to have a history of rallying around the Clintons in times of peril.
That being said, I thought they were both pretty terrible last night.

There are very few restrictions on what they can do with that money. The big one is it can't be for personal use. Besides that like stip said they can donate to other candidates, contribute to PACs, contribute to the party, give it to charity, or they can keep it indefinitely as their own campaign fund.tragabigzanda wrote:Couldn't say for sure, but I don't think that would be kosher. People would probably be surprised to learn that Leadership PAC money on the other hand can be used for personal use after the politician retires. 60 minutes did an excellent segment on that maybe a year or so go.
