Nice performance. Wish they were doing a big tour.

This is a really good performance, great tones, great playing - but, having given the album a quick spin, what these guys are doing just isn't my thing.verb_to_trust wrote:

It's difficult to pinpoint exactly what doesn't work, I suspect it's the songwriting simply not hitting the right spot for me.tragabigzanda wrote:Huh...Didn't you say you were intrigued by my Peter Gabriel comparison? Re: RNDM
I'm almost halfway through this album and it's really good. Comfortable was the low point so far, all others demand repeat listens.
I wonder if any of these tracks were Jeff ideas that he floated to PJ for LB? I know they said they came in with nothing but you know, muso's and their spin.
And Bowie is all over this. Lots of 80's white funk too.

Re: RNDM
Cool DC gig. They quickly added Cherries In The Snow in the encore by request.
A lot of laughs and smiles in between songs, being silly, joking around. Looks like they're having fun. Biggest laugh was before NYC Freaks where Joseph said "Someone asked why the tour is only 8 dates long." He pointed at Jeff, "He can't hang out with me for more than 8 days."
Setlist:
1. Stumbling Down
2. Comfortable
3. Ghost Riding
4. Got To Survive
5. Stray
6. Strongerman
7. Trouble
8. NYC Freaks
9. Kingdom In The Sky
10. It's Violence
11. Dream Your Life Away
Encore:
12. Modern Times
13. The Disappearing Ones
14. What You Can't Control
15. Cherries In The Snow
16. Hollow Girl

Re: RNDM
I've listened to maybe 2 RNDM songs, both didn't do a whole lot for me. However, there were parts of this song/performance that I really dug, as well as parts that I found pretty boring.verb_to_trust wrote:

Great pictures of the DC gig, man. I was there, too, and enjoyed the hell out of it. They were having so much fun but at the same time played a pretty tight set. Comfortable and Kingdom In The Sky are way better live. NYC Freaks was a riot as expected. Even live, Trouble is far and away the best song on the album, but Ghost Riding is a close second. I would definitely make the trip to see them again.

Re: RNDM
What an amazingly confounding last sentence.
