Why are you guys so worried about your kids being scared by a movie? This is such a bizarre fixation to me.
I'm asking honestly, by the way.

Do kids really get scared by animated movies? My niece and nephew (4 and 6) have watched the avengers with no problem.

Ellie has watched Avengers and Ghostbusters which was why this surprised me. Again, she wasn't terrified, but it is dark, and I think scary animals may be harder to process than robotstommymtcom wrote:Do kids really get scared by animated movies? I took my 4 year old nephew on opening weekend to see the Minions movie. Worst movie experience of my life. Not because of my nephew, he was quiet except for when he laughed. It was all the other horrible kids that wouldn't stfu.

Putting scared kids to bed or getting up with them after nightmares is a real pain in the ass.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Why are you guys so worried about your kids being scared by a movie? This is such a bizarre fixation to me.

In my day we watched The Dark Crystal and we didn't cry about it like today's wimpy kids!

Within reason I don't worry too much about this. We're not going to watch things with intentionally disturbing imagery (b is right, its not worth the risk of losing sleep over nightmares), but really we just avoid excessive cursing and sex. Also realistic violence. But cartoonish violence is fine with me. And if they say something is scaring them, we obviously listen, but thats rare.

Re: Zootopia
This was pretty cute. I liked the idea of all the different environments in Zootopia. I assume they'll focus on other ones in the sequels. The overall message was nice for kids in the age of Trump. It was my 5 year olds first trip to the theatre and he was excellent. We are all looking forward to Jungle Book.

Re: Zootopia
Saw this the other day with my 4yo and almost 2 yo. She loved it but jumped a few times. He (4yo) said he was scared about 5 times to which I said it'll turn out okay and basically stfu.
It was pretty good and I enjoyed it. It is basically a S Bullock cop film with a message, as you said Burt. The different lands were great and there's plenty of scope if there's a sequel.

Re: Zootopia
My kids watched Raiders of the Lost Ark recently, and at the end, I tried to stand in front of my 3 year old daughter. She got very mad and told me that if she got scared, she could just hold a pillow up in front of her face.
