I would suggest looking up books from the Israeli perspective as well as books from the Palestinian perspective. Basically the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire after World War I, and the destruction of the Syrian Kingdom following their war with France, left a massive power vacuum in the region. Extreme Nationalism took root and Western Nations were all hey we can fix this. Lets break up the territories into two regions and everyone will be happy. It's something like that.
Here's some recent books on the matter:
"Sustaining conflict : apathy and domination in Israel-Palestine"
"A war of words : political violence and public debate in Israel"
"Palestine and the decline of the Ottoman Empire : modernization and the path to Palestinian statehood"

Re: Election 2016
it's crazy. The Ottoman Empire and earlier dynasties such as the Abbasids rescued ancient Greek texts and made advancements in medicine and mathematics. The region was a beacon for philosophical studies.LoathedVermin72 wrote:jwfocker wrote:LoathedVermin72 wrote:Can anyone point me to a good primer on the history of the Israel/Palestine conflict? We all expect the national convention for the Republicans to be interesting but watch the state ones too. By working the individual bylaws the Ron Paul campaign was able to pick up many more delegates than he was awarded in the primaries/caucuses. I'm sure that same playbook to be used again this year.

It's taken The Onion a bit of time to really "hit" what Ted Cruz's personality should be in their articles, but their recent work has been great:

Didnt the Republican party at the state level in turn change many of those rules specifically to prevent a repeat? If it were repeatable, its rather late now to do so, and I'm not sure who benefits if it did.Biff Pocoroba wrote:We all expect the national convention for the Republicans to be interesting but watch the state ones too. I usually go with 27. Don't want to be the one pushing that average down.stip wrote:every time sanders has a good night it costs me 20 bucks
