This whole 'build-up' feels as if we're waiting for a bunch of friends to release a debut album but nobody knows what the fuck to do or how to release an album.

why is that?

Because it's clumsy, long, boring and... well, it's not even building. How long do they think we'll wait before this starts to be fun?

I guess the key will be if you decide you're no longer interested when you start to get interviews about the process, song descriptions, clips, etc. This is a slow seduction, but I'm not sure it is longer than Backspacer or S/T and those were played really well (bracketing what people thought about the songs).

If you see a teaser trailer for a movie do you find yourself already over it when the regular trailer finally drops?

The build up hasn't really started yet. It all starts when there's an official announcement of the title/tracklist/first single. If we hadn't been given the 'Mind Your Manners' rumour, there wouldn't even be much indication that we're due anything yet - the band members have all vaguely said 'hopefully by the end of 2013'.

Yeah, sometimes.

And actually, you say they haven't started yet, but I'm not sure; I think we've been reading hints and fake set lists and ideas and speculations about the new album for two years now. And endless interviews, where ideas and 'half done' has been told us a thousand times. And they haven't just gone 'Yanno what, we give up. Just wait. There's no album yet.' At least I would respect that. So all I'm saying is, all of this is the opposite of a campaign to drum up excitement and anticipation. There's been so many false starts I can imagine some people (like me) are just being turned off.

Yeah, that's it. No 'Mind Your Manners', probably no album nearly finished. Why do we believe any of it? May as well get on with our lives until the inevitable Christmas release.
