I think there were some great little touches in there, particularly Mel lamenting "They're gonna blame me for this" before he starts shooting. That's such a striking character moment.durdencommatyler wrote:Just stifled and obvious and hammy and cringy. I don't know. It's just a trailer. The movie might be fantastic. Re: The Cinematic Motion Picture News Thread
That "there gonna blame me for this" and then something about parol or whatever... that stuff hit me in a totally different way. Just gratuitous and awkward exposition. But again, it's a trailer. The moment might be successful when it's fully fleshed out in the actual film. But that one made me groan out loud when I watched the trailer. Both times.LoathedVermin72 wrote:I think there were some great little touches in there, particularly Mel lamenting "They're gonna blame me for this" before he starts shooting. Like, I can't watch reality singing shows, because they're terrible, but also because I just get so nervous for the people singing, especially if they aren't that great or have an off night. I get sympathy performance anxiety. That's the same feeling I got when that line happened.

I did like Michael Parks a lot in Red State, though.

I'm not sure if I want to ban Joey or give him a hug. Oh well I can't do either anyway.
