I thought the light saber duels in force awakens were excellent. Very visceral with none of that absurd, over the top action movie fluff. Hopefully Rouge One will keep that going.

I didn't really take the time to pick them apart when I saw it in theaters and it's been months since I last saw the film, but my memory is that the fights are really well done and much more in line with what I want a lightsaber battle to be in my Star Wars films.

But I need to see the movie again and really focus on them before I can pretend to defend that feeling.

This one is great

With Rogue One, we’re able to return to the era of the original trilogy without pandering. It’s a story-first approach to franchise building that allows fans and creators alike to spend more time in an era they love without harping on cheesy callbacks while paying homage to what came before. Case in point: Though the former “Expanded Universe” slate was wiped clean at the start of the Disney era, Rogue One already features many subtle nods to the original theft of the Death Star plans in the beloved Dark Forces game series. I have to say the AT-AT shots didn't really do anything for me. There was no emotional response to their presence. The shots are gorgeous but they could have been a new piece of machinery and had the same affect on me. Ditto the Falcon in TFA trailers, though. Perhaps "iconography" in Star Wars means very little to me.

Then again, that shot of the downed Star Destroyer in TFA took my breath away. But again, I think it was the shot not the fact of the Star Destroyer? Maybe?

It's not at all about the iconography for me. It's about Edwards' visual composition. He's a master.

It reminded me of looking up at the giant octo aliens in Monsters. They were way more threatening in that teaser than they've been in any other SW movie.

I just saw this, and I agree completely. Those were wonderful shots in that movie.

It is very important role, a much I can say. No, my character is actually not a bad guy, and then I can not say more. I can also say that the movie will be shot in Iceland and England. And the filming will last for three months.

Really hoping he is a bounty hunter.

Yep. Very pumped to see him in the Star Wars Universe. I actually think the storm troopers are stand offish because I think his character is a known commodity and they're all oh fuck, this blind dude is about to kill us all, what do we do.
