Maybe George Clooney was the best Batman after all. Smug wealthy liberals make the best fascist vigilantes.

A rich white guy who gets away with torturing the poor and is bitter enemies with the press is barely even a movie. I don't know why they count that section towards its run time.BurtReynolds wrote:Maybe George Clooney was the best Batman after all. Smug wealthy liberals make the best fascist vigilantes.

Re: Batman V: Superman Dawn of Justice
The Dark Knight Rises was not entirely an appropriate ending, it was a decent film but the series deserved a all around stronger closing chapter. The first two installments are just fantastic films; The Dark Knight being one of the greatest and most successful (artistically and financially) movies of its decade and of its genre, all time.
Nolan's Bat-films are wonderful. And while I do think Ledger's performance was remarkable and helped elevate the entire series, it's not the one thing that keeps people thinking about/talking about/watching those movies. A lesser actor/performance wouldn't have made The Dark Knight a terrible or forgettable movie. There's so much going on there, it was above one performance.

Oh man, really? It could certainly be that we've just been in different circles, but I've always perceived that Heath's Joker was the first and last thing that always gets talked about when TDK comes up. That performance is transcendent.

Re: Batman V: Superman Dawn of Justice
Oh, the performance is transcendent, for sure. And it is often the first thing people mention when talking about the movie for that very reason. What I'm saying is that there is so much more going on in the movie, so many other excellent qualities, that even if Ledge hadn't given that performance people would still revere the film. As it is, Ledge gets all the accolades. But I still think people would talk about the movie without him; they would just spend more time focusing on all the other deserving qualities.

Ledger is the main thing that comes to mind when I think back but I've only seen them all once.

I meant Christian Bale. I don't even know why but I think my phone likes typing Bateman instead of batman. Won't be using Siri for posting again.

I thought you were referencing Bale's performance as Patrick Bateman.

Re: Batman V: Superman Dawn of Justice
I just thought you were making some kind of comment about how similar Bale is to his character Patrick Bateman.
