2-96: So. Central Rain vs. Feeling Gravity's Pull

South Central Rain is perfect (REM has a lot of perfect songs where I just can't think of anything I'd do differently). Feeling Gravity's Pull is probably the more interesting composition, but I think the first two songs on Fables are still struggling to find the sound they're looking for (which they arrive at by Driver 8 and maintain pretty much through the rest of the album except maybe for Good Advices). The resulting product sounds slightly out of sync with itself, but not in a way I think is intentional or enhances the song.

FEELING GRAVITY'S PULL

after just listening to both of them. They're both great but I'm really feeling Feeling Gravity's Pull right now. I love how claustrophobic sounds most of the time and then it opens up so beautifully at 2:10.
