2-97: Daysleeper vs. I've Been High

These are both imperfect songs to me, insofar as they call to mine past highlights they can't quite reach or demand a performance Stipe wasn't able to give during the Up-Around the Sun run of albums when he was still struggling to find his late period vocal sweet spot.

But daysleeper is, I think, the stronger song. The music and performance pretty perfectly captures the headache gray subject matter.

Same here. This one's easy for me, and I adore "I've Been High."
