I usually love the world cup, but seeing this, the absolute ridiculousness of the Qatar 2018 mess, what is going on in Russia for the 2014 winter games... and the Brazil Olympics too.

I mean I'm not going anyway, but this is ridiculous. I'm not a big fan of spending huge amounts of public money to put on gigantic corporate events. I think it is a massive misappropriation of funds and the role of government.

Fifa and the IOC are among the most corrupt non government organizations in the world.

We can have large excuses to get drunk and party without bankrupting countries in the process.

He is only one of the most serious people in RM.

I think you should give him a piece of your mind.

Ronaldo just said that "World Cup is not made by hospitals"

And the FIFA CEO said: "Soccer is stronger than the dissatisfaction of the people"

I would like to ask you guys something.
I know that you guys don't live here, or maybe don't even care about what's happening here, but if you could help us, we would really appreciate, to do so, just grab a piece of paper and write:

"Its nos about 20 cents

From (Place your country here)"

And then write "#changeBrazil"

This action will give all of the protesters a great incentive, to know that people form all around the world, are helping us in our cause. If you could, please do it, send the pics for me via PM, or post it on your facebook or twitter... But if you could send them to me, so I could post on the various groups I'm participating, it could really help us!

Thank you!

And what exactly is your cause, KL? What do you want to achieve specifically by protesting?

Well, first of all, I'm tired of being lied by the politics, saying that our country is great and all, where there are people dying in the hospitals because all the money that is directed to health, goes to other unimportant things like a stadium.
I want the government to aid the people that they say they help.

Lets say that the dollar and the real are at the same value, just for a comparison.
We have a 720,00 reais as a minimum wage, while the deputies and senators receive 26.723,13 reais, 15 times a year (Yes they have 3 extra wages).
We have around 40 Billions reais of misspent PUBLIC money.
They invest around 30 billions reais for the world cup, while the education is shit and health is even worse.
And it gets worse, almost every year, the Ministry reduces the public teacher salary. This year, it was reduced in 40%.
And I'm not even talking about the police, where they are paid about 782,00 reais, and then, everybody ask why the fuck they are so willing to take bribes and dirty money.

And for Skitch, the streets in SP (which are probably the best in whole Brazil), are in a terrible condition, filled with holes, lights not working properly, while the public transportation got a special corridor, where cars can't go in.
It MAKES us use the public transportation, or else, is impossible to drive in SP, and I'm not even start talking about the full traffic, where, on bus and subway, you would do 15 minutes travel, where in car it can take almost 2 hours.

Did you get the minimum wage we get? Well, the gas here is around 2,90 reais.

We are not cheap, Skitch. We are poor.

So you want the World Cup cancelled? Isn't it a bit late for that?

I don't mind the world cup, not at all. we just don't want the World Cup to be more (And WAY more) important than health, education and security of the people.

World cup should be always in Germany, they are organized, already have the structure and they are in the heart of a continent that enjoys soccer.

See, people here are protesting a lot, but very few are asking for effective solutions like a reform of the tax system and working laws.

You should ask for a plebiscite. I'm pretty sure you'd get what you want by a landslide.

Then again, Brazil loves soccer.

Its the first time that I see Brazillian people fighting for their country and rights, and not giving a single shit about soccer. And this is really touching. There is a lot of people signing pettitions to drop the Governor and the Mayor here in São Paulo, and even starting to think doing the same for Dilma Roussef (The President).

But then again, a petition would not be enough. We need to go on the streets.
We are fighting every way possible.

Here in SP we are being very specific. There is a march for the bus taxes, and now a march to stop the PEC-37, a march to drop Geraldo Alckiming, they are being very specific with protests.

The PEC-37 will not change anything? Do you even know what it is, man?
