I was just about to post this.

As disappointing as the non-calls were (loved LBJ's Jim Brown elbow to Danny Green on that layup), the Spurs really blew this one. Sucks.

I do think, though, that if any team is capable of bouncing back against the Heat in their building, its the Spurs.

did you love when lenoard moved millers face out of the way with his free hand when he dunked?

There is an offensive foul on about 25 percent of dunks. They are never called. I did not see the play in question though.

I'm going to defend Pop here. At the start of the 4th he subbed Duncan and Parker out LIKE HE ALWAYS DOES!! Like he has for years. Just like he did in game 5. Yes, that was where Miami made their run, and it almost assuredly was assisted by the fact that Duncan and Parker were on the bench, but that doesn't make Pop wrong. He trusted the same guys he's trusted all year to get them through the first 4-5 minutes of the 4th quarter so that his 37 year old big and his gimpy PG could get a few minutes of much needed rest and hopefully close out the game strong. I mean you guys did see how the Heat marginalized Duncan the whole 2nd half, right? Playing without any rest probably wouldn't have been a good idea. So I don't fault him for that at all. Taking Duncan out on Allen's 3 to tie the game I also think was rational. Miami had to shoot a 3 and he wanted guys who could defend the 3 point line. Obviously the worst case scenario for him happened when Miami got the offensive rebound, so it was a move that didn't work out. It's fair to disagree with it, but I certainly think that given his information going into that play it was a reasonable decision. Taking Parker out on a couple of Miami's final possessions definitely makes sense. I'm not sure why anyone would question that. Parker isn't a defender, so they got an additional bigger body on the floor to try to stop Miami, and if I'm not mistaken they did stop Miami both times, so I'm not really sure what the problem was there.

The Spurs gave the game away at the line. That's what I will agree with. But I don't fault Pop.

Spurs blew it, no doubt, but the Heat's defense was really damn good in the 4th quarter.

It was really good when it had to be...they seemed to let up once they would get caught up and then turn it on again when they fell behind

I disagree with this. Once the Heat flipped the "on" switch on defense they never relented. (I don't even know that I'd say they flipped a switch. I think they played tough D all night, they were simply getting beaten by a great offensive team that was shooting near 60%. Sometimes you just have to give the other team credit: they were making tough shots all night. Miami focused on taking away the 3 point shot, which they did; the trade-off was that Duncan was going to have a 1-on-1 matchup with a guy (Bosh or Birdman) that he could dominate. But even when Duncan was going off Miami was playing aggressively. I never questioned their effort or intensity).

When the Spurs somehow went on that 8-0 run from 1:48 to 0:28 the Heat were still playing aggressive defense, the Spurs just stepped up. That 3 Parker hit was a shot the Heat would want them to take every time. They stifled him for almost the entire shot clock, so he raises up for a step back 3. When the ball leaves his hands that's a good defensive possession. Obviously he made it, but that's what great players do; they make great shots even when the defense is all over them.

What you saw last night is why the Spurs are so good: Miami played as hard as they could and were a made free throw or a missed miracle shot from losing.

I was referring more to the run the Spurs ran off after Miami had come back at the beginning of the 4th...didn't the Spurs get the lead back up to like 8 or 9, followed by another Miami run that had them take the lead before that last Spurs 8-0 run?

I could look it up, but I don't think so. I'm pretty sure Miami started the quarter on a 19-7 run in the first 6 minutes, then Miami held a lead that alternated between 1 and 3 points (never more than 3) until Parker's 3 with a little under 2 minutes left.

Parker isn't a defender.

Not sure why this perception is still out there. Statistically (opposing points per and opposing field-goal percentage) he is one of the best defensive guards in the league.
